Huntsville Real Estate School offers classroom courses for

  • Individuals who want to get a real estate license (Pre-License Course) 
  • New Agents who need the required Post License course to jump-start their real estate careers
  • Experienced agents who need Continuing Education (CE) courses to (1) satisfy their CE requirement for a two-year renewal period or (2) support their professional development goals.
  • Real Estate Investors

PRE-LICENSE COURSE

  • Course Description: This course is designed to prepare the student to take the Alabama Real Estate License Exam. Topics covered include Alabama Real Estate Law, Real and Personal Property, Encumbrances, Contracts, Public Controls, Financing, Property Valuations, Brokerages and Real Estate Consumer and Agency Disclosure (RECAD), Real Estate Math, Transfer of Property, etc.

  • Meeting Times:Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 to 10:00 PM
  • Length of Course:60 classroom hours spread over 9-10 weeks (assumes student does not miss any classes and starts final exam review immediately after completing the required classroom hours). The course cycles about every 8 weeks. Classes missed during one cycle of the course may be attended during subsequent cycles.
  • Completion Requirements:There are 3 completion requirements; the student must
    • Attend at least 90% of the 60 classroom hours (i.e., 54 hours)
    • Score at least 70% on the course final exam
    • Complete the course within one year.
  • Textbooks:Study Guide for Real Estate Alabama (by Avery Yarbrough) and Alabama License Law (Alabama Real Estate Commission)
  • Types of Instruction:Lecture (supported by PowerPoint handouts), videos, testing, role playing, etc.

POST LICENSE COURSE

  • Course Description: This course is designed to prepare new real estate agents for success in the real estate business. Topics covered include Alabama Real Estate Law, Real Estate Consumer and Agency Disclosure (RECAD), Working with Buyers, Working With Sellers, Real Estate Technology, Websites, Risk Management, Development of a Business Plan, Lead Generation, etc.
  • Enrollment: Students may enroll before classes begin or on the first day of class if seats are available. CLICK <HERE> to see the school calendar.   • Meeting Times: TBD when next offering of this course is scheduled
  • Length of Course: 30 hours spread out over 8 to 12 days
  • Completion Requirements: There are 3 completion requirements; the student must
    • Attend at least 90% of the 60 classroom hours (i.e., 27 hours)
    • Score at least 70% on the course final exam
    • Time Limit: You have one year from the first day of the month after the month in which your license was issued, to complete this course. However, if your license is active, and you have not completed the Post License course within the first six months of the one-year period, your license will be put into inactive status until you have completed the Post License course or your license lapses after twelve months.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: ALABAMA BROKER PREP COURSE

  • Course Description: This course is designed to prepare an Alabama real estate salesperson to take the Alabama Broker Exam. Topics covered include Risk Management, RECAD, Contracts, Fair Housing, and Alabama License Law. In addition to preparing the student to take the Alabama Broker Exam, this course may be used to satisfy (1) the  60-classroom hours Broker requirement for those salespersons who took the old 45-hour Pre-License course and need 15 more classroom hours and (2) the 15 hours continuing education requirement for each 2-year license period. A final exam is only required when taking this course for the additional 15 hours Pre-License credit needed to take the Alabama Broker Exam.

  • Meeting Times: TBD when next offering of this course is available.
  • Length of Course: 15 hours over a two-day period.
  • Completion Requirements: If this course is taken for 15 hours of Pre-License classroom hours credit, the completion requirements are: (1) 90% attendance and (2) a score of 70% or more on the final exam. If this course is taken for 15 hours of continuing education credit, the student must attend all (i.e., 100%) of the classroom instruction from beginning to end, and no partial credit is given if the student misses any of the classroom instruction.
  • Textbooks: (1) Guide to Passing the AMP Real Estate Exam, Fourth Edition, by Joyce Bea Sterling and (2) Real Estate Exam Prep Alabama, published by Dearborn (no author cited)
  • Cost: $195 (Check or Cash)

CONTINUING EDUCATION: RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Course Description: This course is designed to prepare the student to identify and manage risks associated with the real estate sales profession. Common risks, methods of handling these risks (an others) are presented and discussed.

  • Meeting Times: TBD when next offering of this course is available.
  • Length of Course: 3 hours
  • Completion Requirements: Students must attend all three hours of instruction to get 3 hours of continuing education credit. If a student misses any of the classroom instruction, no partial credit is given.
  • Textbooks: Risk Management Red Flags and Paper Trails by Diana Brothers
  • Cost: $50 (includes textbook)

INVESTING IN REAL ESTATE

  • Course Description: This course is designed to provide the basics to new real estate investors and to update or refresh the skills of intermediate level real estate investors. Topics covered include identification and evaluation of candidate investment properties, working realtors versus not working with realtors, flipping and income producting properties, etc.

  • Meeting Times: TBD when next offering of this course is available
  • Length of Course: 9 hours (Monday, 6:00 - 10:00 PM and Saturday, 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM)
  • Completion Requirements: There are no completion requirements;students may attend all or parts of the course as desired. This course does not count as continuing education credit for realtors; it is open to the general public and realtors. There is no final exam and there is no certificate.
  • Textbooks: None, students receive copies PowerPoint presentation and a CD with some real estate investment spreadsheets.
  • Cost: $75 (Lunch provided on Saturday)
